Crawley Furni-Aid is a registered charity limited by guarantee. Founded
some 10 years ago, its purpose is to create a stock of second hand,
re-usable furniture for distribution to eligable persons and families in the
environs of Crawley.

Furni-aids client base crosses the full spectrum of state and local "assistance" agencies and all the welfare and rehabilitation charities.
Their clients are either new to the Crawley area, or are being accommodated following periods of homelessness, illness, etc. and have insufficient funds to finance the furnishing of the newly allocated home.
Three staff comprise of the manager, the driver and the warehouse supervisor, and the office work is fullfilled on a part time basis by volunteers. The labourforce is secured by a Partnership Agreement with West Sussex Probation Service under which community service workers
provide the skilled and semi-skilled labour we require. Furni-aids green aims are based on community value and individual value, in terms of benefit to the community by:
• Prolonging the life of instead, of scrapping second-hand furniture
received from donor families
• Further extending the life of damaged but repairable items
• Recycling the timber content of non-reusable items for construction of garden furniture and ornaments
• Fulfilling the essential furnishing needs of our clients In terms of benefits to individuals; community service workers:
• Learn basic team working skills
• Enhance their communications skills
• Develop domestic skills in the field of DIY effecting repairs to furniture and other items. In their last financial year, they averaged 36 collections and 10 deliveries each week, with an astounding 1172 people benefiting
directly from their efforts.
Furni Aid are always on the look out for good quality domestic furniture, particularly beds, sofas and wardrobes.
